The Chilean government is granting concessions to private corporations to develop seawater desalination plants that will produce water fit for human consumption, agriculture and mining operations. Because of the water shortage affecting northern Chile, at least 30 desalination plant projects are currently being evaluated or designed. Aguas Antofagastas, who will be represented at the Business Briefing, will be tendering the design, construction, and operation of a new desalination plant later this year.
The reception / Business Briefing (held in conjunction with the 2011 AWWA Membrane Technology Conference) will be at the Hyatt Hotel in Long Beach on March 28, 6:00 - 9:00 PM.
The delegates will present their upcoming projects and equipment needs and will be available following their presentations to meet with reception attendees. Attendees will be given a Briefing Book that covers background information on Chile's desalination plans and copies of the delegate's presentations. Additionally, attendees will be able to schedule one-on-one meetings with the delegates for Tuesday or Wednesday during the Conference. You can check for more details and register for the reception at
